New Trick!

We knew it would happen eventually....we are just sorry it came so soon. No more just shutting doors to keep her out.

Busy Weekend!

My bed-ridden hubby and a very sleepy girl

Things have been pretty busy around here. Thursday night was our Pinewood Derby! It was a lot of fun. I am sad I didn't take any pictures. Matt didn't get to go--he had a lot of problems with his knee--thinking he had an infection or blodclot--so he has had to stay in bed all week. Luckily he had neither and is doing a little better now.
Everyone from work got to go to Moab for a big retreat, since we had to stay behind anyway, we kept Ruby for my brother. Savannah loved having a cousin here to play with. We were sad to miss out on the fun, but Matt's parents came from Montana, so it was fun having some company. His brother Darrick blessed their new baby at our home Sunday morning. We had quite a house-full, but we love having company!
I also recieved a new calling this week and am now in the Primary Presidency. Sould keep me pretty busy...especially since I am also keeping the calling in scouts. I am excited to be in Primary again though!

Happy Easter!

We had a great Easter weekend! On Saturday, we took Savannah to the Easter egg hunt in Spanish Fork. They line up all the kids around the field and make you wait, then when it's time to go, the actual hunt lasts about 20 seconds. Savannah got a few eggs and was pretty excited that there was candy!

I love this picture because she is just chowing down on candy!

Our friends, Sarah and Hannah. We tried to get a good picture with the kids together, but of course they wouldn't look.

Next, we headed down to my parents. The weather was perfect and Savannah had a great time. There were Grandparents, kitties, choo-choo trains, and a swing! What more could a girl want?

Savannah, trying to feed the kitty some Easter candy!

I again, tried to get pictures of her in her Easter dress, but no luck. She was so excited to find a kitty that doesn't run away from her. All the cats in our neighborhood are smart enough to run.

Savannah LOVED this airplane swing. I am so surprised that she loves to go so high. She lets out the cutest squeal and begs to keep being pushed.

Hope you all had a great Easter too!

All Savannah all the time!

I know I always do mommy posts where I think you all want to hear about our daughter, but you do right?
She has the funniest little personality. She really is such a girl. She loves "pretties" which is anything to do with hair clips, lotion, make-up, nail polish etc. etc. She is also SO MOODY! Sometimes she can be so charming. She yells "hi" or "Bye-bye" to everyone she sees in public. She also can throw a tantrum on a dime. Any kid that gets near her, she is sure is planning on stealing whatever she has in her hand (usually a baby doll) and she will SCREAM "NOOOOO!!". I don't understand why she thinks they are all out to get her. It seems like this would be behavior from a 2nd child that has an older sibling always stealing toys. It's not like Matt and I steal her baby all of the time.
Well, anyway...despite her mood swings, we sure love having her around. She really has toned down a lot, and is generally quite pleasant! We love having our little girl! It will be interesting figuring out what to do with a baby boy.

Matt's surgery went well. He had his first physical therapy today. They don't waste any time getting him going again. I'm sure he will be glad when he can move around again. I think I will rent a bunch of girley movies and make him watch them with me since he can't move. He was pretty funny and a little crazy when he first came out of surgery. The nurse wheeled him into the room where I was. She made some comment about how she was sure just having me there would make him feel better. He then just looks up at the TV and asks her "Do you have ESPN?" How rude. I guess we know now what he really wanted to make him feel better.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!....yesterday

I have never been big on St. Patrick's Day. I actually forgot about it, and Savannah and I both work Pink. Oops... Apparently not a whole lot of people around here are big on it either, because we didn't get pinched all day. Maybe I will be fun next year and make a green dinner or something....maybe.
I came home from my mission on good ol St. Patty's day, so it has officially been 4 years since I have been home. Wow! A lot happens in 4 years! Anyway...hope you had a great day and that you didn't get pinched either.
Matt goes in for knee surgery tomorrow! Wish us luck! He will kill me for putting this picture on, but here he is right before his last knee surgery. Isn't he cute?

Nana

This is my Grandma! She just turned 85 yesterday! My sister took her to get her picture taken by our friend, Mary. Isn't she a babe? She is the cutest little southern belle I know! Happy Birthday Nana!

The Price is right and Savannah

Well, I am sure many of you are just itching to hear what we won at "The Price is Right". NOTHING!! We did get into the show and it was a lot of fun, but alas, we did not get called to "Come on Down". We had to wait around FOREVER in order to get in, but it was fun to be there. There sure are a lot of weirdos that go to the show. They kept us entertained while we waited though. The stage is so much smaller than you would think. We did meet Drew Carey! We are not all that excited about meeting celebrities, so for us it was much like meeting any other stranger, but he seems like a swell enough fella! Anyway...I will post pictures of our trip when I get them on my computer. You might see us in the audience on April 3 if you watch the show. If you were on stage looking out at the crowd, we are on the far left in the front row. I doubt there is many shots with us in them because we were so close to camera equipment, but we were sure to give people high-fives as they ran down the isle, so you may see us. Also at the very end of the show I saw a big fat prego belly with a name tag that said "Miriam" on it. One can only assume that was me!

In other news...
The other day when we were at the church for a RS dinner, Savannah fell and hit her mouth on a chair. I took her out and there was blood all over. I wiped her up and calmed her down a little, but she wouldn't let me look in her mouth. I figured she just had a fat lip, so I brought her back in. Later, Matt took her out and when I came to get them he asked if I had noticed her tooth was gone! One of her front teeth was missing. You could see a little piece of it right at the gum, but the rest was gone! I was so sad. That must have really hurt! We looked all over for the tooth and could not find it. It was late at night, so we had to call an on-call number for a pediatric dentist! We found the best dentist in the WORLD! His name is Dr. Sorensen in Spanish Fork. He drove to his office to meet us late at night. He checked her out, and took and x-ray and guess what? The tooth was still there! It was shoved all the way up into her gum. OUCH! No wonder we couldn't find it. I was relieved because it should just come back down. There is a chance it will be black, so we are hoping not, but just have to wait and see. That would be sad if she had to just wait for her permanent ones to come in. Poor Savannah! But if you are looking for a good Pediatric Dentist I found one for you! He didn't even charge us anything! It's great to find nice people around.
Here is a picture of our toothless little girl:

She is so funny! When she went to take a drink, it must have hurt, because she reached her fingers in her mouth and kept saying "tooth, gone". I started laughing and when she realized she was being funny she kept putting her arms in the air like she was shrugging and would say "Where teeth go?"

Our new nieces!

Matt's brother Darrick and his wife Ariel had a new baby girl--Baylee Diana--and she is so stinkin' cute! We can't wait to meet her!
My brother, Joe and his wife Heidi also had a new girl--Millie Louise! We don't have a picture of her yet, but you can take our word for it that she is pretty stinkin' cute too!

Trip to the South

Matt was going to Mississippi for a work trip, so Savannah and I decided to go with him since we had both served our missions there. It was so fun to go through some of our old mission areas! A lot has changed since the hurricane. It was pretty sad to see how much it affected everyone. We flew into New Orleans, so we got to drive around there too. Most of it all looks good, but there were definately a lot of ruins still from Katrina. We took a ton of pictures, so sorry I put on so many.
Savannah deserves the "Baby of the Year" award for how well she did on the trip. Our flights were all messed up because of weather so they were extra long. Then on the way home our flight was cancelled and we had to stay an extra day to catch a different flight. Needless to say, there was a lot of driving around, waiting in lines, and missed naps. She surprised both of us by how well she did the whole time! Even on the plane!! Anyway...here are lots of pictures:

The Superdome in New Orleans.

This home is right along one of the main drives in Mississippi. I thought it was cool because if you look real close, you can see they have hung an american flag inside the home.

There always have been a lot of homes up on stilts like this, but it seems like there are a lot more now. I think they look cool.

We thought it was funny how high up this trailer was. They are not about to be flooded again.

So sad. 2 1/2 years later this house is still just laying in a pile. You can see the brick chimney and if you look close there is a metal spiral staircase.

The coast line. The trees look like there was a fire, but all the branches have just been ripped off.

We thought we would stop by an old souvenier shop on the coast that we used to go to to buy some stuff. This is what we found.

I don't know if you can read it in the picture. They spray painted "We will rebuilt. Keep Out". A lot of people sprayed messages right on their house.

All over there were damaged homes, where the people were living in a tiny FEMA trailer parked in the yard.

A lot of the homes still had huge piles of trash out in the yard. You could see in the windows that the house was completely gutted out.

This was one of the saddest things for me to see. The greatest older lady lived here. She loved missionaries and would buy us groceries even though she probally couldn't afford it. Her house used to be here. It was completely wiped out in the storm. Now there are only a few trailers parked on the slabs where homes used to be.

The Sissens--A family I taught. He is the only one that joined, but it was so good to see they were doing so well. He works in the Temple on weekends and is the ward clerk. I've lost track of so many people I taught, so it was nice to see some doing so well.

Down South!!

Matt took me to see these great houses in one of his areas! It's just what you picture when you think of Mississippi!

The bayou!

We are thinking of doing our fence like this. Let us know if you have any extra hub-caps around.

Baby of the Year!!

We went to visit the greatest couple in one of Matt's old areas. He raises all sorts of animals, but a TON of chickens! Savannah loved walking around the farm!

This definately shows how the water line has changed. We just thought this tree looked really cool with the roots showing.

Savannah and Daddy on the pier. We used to come catch crabs here all of the time!

My missionary apartment in my first area! The missionaries still live there!

We stayed with the greatest family- The Hills- She cooked up a crawfish boil for everyone. There was so much food! I can't believe how many crawfish those boys ate!

THE SHED!! This is a little run down restaurant that serves some good ol' southern barbeque. It's a really cool place!
