Florida

Back in March, we took a trip to Florida with Platinum.  It was a great trip despite my lack of pictures.

The boys played a lot of football on the beach and in the water.  They found some teenagers with a football and convinced them to play a game with them.

 Matt, of course tried his hardest to catch some wildlife and ended up with this tortoise.  He was close to the road, so they moved him back to the woods.

Sawyer had a great time, and took a lot of naps on the beach.  He sure is a good traveler.  It was nice to have a little break and get to some warm weather.  We stayed at a pretty cool resort that had some white chocolate bread I still dream about.  It was heavenly!

Savannah and Max had a good time at home with some great babysitters.  They still ask when Cassie can come back to babysit them.

Sawyer

I have been lousy at posting (what's new?) but I thought I better at least get a few pictures of Sawyer up since he keeps changing so much.  He sure has grown fast and is almost six months now.  We LOVE having him in our family.  He is such a happy baby!  He always has big smiles for everyone, and is rarely fussy.

Savannah and Maxwell love him!  They love to talk to him and sing to him to make him happy.  Savannah is very helpful to play with him a lot.  Max thinks he is being helpful a lot, but lets just say we can't leave them alone in the same room.
I love this age, because he is still a little baby I get to hold and snuggle, but he is starting to show his cute little personality!

Kids say the funniest things

I keep meaning to write things down when my kids say them.  Here are a few:

Today I was in the kitchen with Maxwell and it was pretty quiet.  He asked me what that sound was.  I listened and didn't hear anything, so I told him it might have been the fridge.
Max:  "Mom, do you think it was a bear, a coyote, or the fridge?"
Me:  "Probably just the fridge."
Then he climbs under the table for a little while, climbs back out, and says:  "Actually mom, I think it was just me, pooping my pants."


Savannah was asking me why her dance clothes weren't hanging up in her closet like the rest of her clothes. 
Me:  "Because I only hang up normal clothes that you wear a lot.  The dance clothes just stay in the basket until we need to use them."
Savannah:  "So, we just use them when we want to go to dance or pretend like we are getting married?"
Me:  "Do you like to pretend like you are getting married?"
Savannah:  "Yes."
Me:  "Who do you pretend like you are marrying?"
Savannah:  "Well, Maxwell doesn't like for me to pretend to marry him, because he thinks I am trying to marry him for real, so I have to chase him and grab his arms."


Maxwell was watching me cut fabric with the roller blade. 
Max:  "That thing is just for mommies to use not for daddies or boys"
Me:  "That's right.  Only mommy can touch this."
Max:  "Ya, boys can do other things.  They can only do things like watch shows, play outside, read books, go to time out."
Those are the only things he could think of.  I just thought it was funny that going to time-out was in his list.  He is right though, he does get to go to time-out a lot.


Savannah likes to read books to Maxwell.  She is usually pretty accurate on what the pages say, because she has a really good memory if I have read the book to her before.  If she hasn't read the book, she just makes it up.  I was folding laundry on my bed, and the kids grabbed the scriptures on the nightstand.  Savannah told Max she would read the book to him, so they sat down on the floor.  Since there aren't any pictures, Savannah just knows that we learn about Jesus in the scriptures.  She started telling Max all about Jesus.  How he was a little baby at Christmas time, how he helped sick people to feel better, and how he died.  Then she turns to Max and tells him "don't worry though, He came back to life."  It was so sweet, and I just wanted to remember it.

Savannah has a few things she just can't seem to pronounce:  music (moose-glick), family home evening (hammy fo weavening), museum (mazoomeum), sandwich (swamwich), swimsuit (slim sloup).  I will have to add more as I think of them.

Space Traveler

Savannah has been learning about space all month in preschool.  Today they had a little "space party" where they could all dress up like a space traveler.  I wanted her to wear a Star Trek outfit because I am a nerd and I think Star Trek is awesome, but I didn't want to spend the money for a one time event.  This morning we whipped up this little number:

Trip to California

Matt and Jake ended up having to go to LA for work during Presidents Day weekend.  It was pretty last minute, but we decided to tag-a-long with them.  It is a little bit harder to be so spontaneous now that we have three kids, but I'm glad we did it. 

We all loaded up in this sweet van.  We only had six kids total, but it felt like a lot more than that.  I guess that can happen when all six are Five and under.

Our first day there, Krystal and I had to figure out something to entertain all of the kids while the boys worked.  We tried a few different places that didn't work out and finally ended up at this sweet zoo.  It didn't take long to figure out why it was so cheap.  This zoo had a couple monkeys and an anteater.  There were a few farm animals around, but that was it.  The kids didn't mind though.

This giant frog was the most exciting picture at the zoo.


The next day, we found a sweet park with all the free carousel rides you want.  Savannah was in heaven!

Savannah's favorite was this weird cat eating a fish.

 Max's, of course, was the bear.

The same park had free hot-air balloon rides.  This is the real reason we came to it.  Savannah always asks me when she is going to get to ride in a hot-air balloon, and I always tell her never.  This was going to be her chance, but they were full for the whole day.  Oh well.  Maybe next time we are hanging out in LA with nothing to do.

We stayed an extra day to go to Sea World.  It was a big hit!

 Savannah took her little camera along because she wanted to take pictures of the Orca Whale.  I counted 250 pictures of the Shamo show alone.  That doesn't even count the dolphins.  It was pretty cute watching her taking pictures the entire time.

 I thought the shows were really cool.  They were different than when we went 2 years ago.  They were a little cheesy at times.  I'm not ashamed to admit I got a little teary-eyed during the dolphin show!  It was super special! :)

I don't really have anything to say about the polar bear.  He was just sleeping away, and it was super exciting!

We had a really fun time, and I'm glad we went.  It's good to feel like we can still be a little spontaneous!

Pictures

Our good friends, Jeremy and Brittney, took pictures of our kids for us 3 months ago.  I can't believe it has taken me so long to post these.  Well, actually I can.

We only got a couple of all three kids.  Maxwell wasn't very excited about it.

Savannah shocked us by just standing and smiling for her pictures.  She never does that for me!  She is growing up too fast for me!  She  loves preschool, and lives for show-and-tell.  She is still obsessed with horses, and is a great helper for her two little brothers.  She can be awfully sweet when she is not being a stinker.  She does know how to be a stinker sometimes!

 

Maxwell is two.  What else do I need to say?  The boy simply can not handle being told "no".  

He loves to run, and jump around yelling "super-hero to the rescue!" or "blast-off!"  He is obsessed with chocolate milk, and loves to play with his big sister!  We are constantly laughing at funny things he says.  He offers hugs and kisses pretty freely, which I love.

Sawyer is still such a sweet baby!  He is usually pretty content.  He caught RSV last week and has been really sick, but I think he is starting to get better.  He gives pretty big smiles when we talk to him, and tries to talk back.  His siblings sure do love him, and can't seem to resist smothering him or shoving his binkie in his mouth.

Sawyer's blessing

Sawyer was blessed on January 2nd.  All of our family was still in town from Christmas, so it was nice to have them all here.

We decided to at least get a quick shot of our whole family, but it wasn't going to happen.  Maxwell was too mad about being taken away from playing with his cousins.  Oh well...here we are.

Sawyer sure is a sweet baby.  He is generally a pretty happy boy.  He even sleeps through the night most of the time.  We are kind of spoiled in that way.  He loves to be held and talked to, and he loves tummy time.  He is pretty small.  We have had to keep taking him in for weight checks to make sure he is gaining weight, but he seems to be healthy.  We love having him in our home and feel so blessed!
